Sign Up to Volunteer at this year’s Lantern Parade
Wednesday 25th November, 6pm - 6.45pm
We’d love some help carrying the lanterns & props during the parade!
We have 10 giant ‘Jolly Postman’ themed lanterns to carry which have all been fitted with a comfy ‘hands-free’ shoulder strap (thanks to the ingenuity of our volunteers Danny & Iona!).
Plus 11 fantastic giant letters addressed to local businesses from each of our fairytale characters (and Santa himself!)
There’s also an opportunity for 10 keen cyclists to join the parade behind Santa’s Sleigh as whimsical ‘Posties’!

Meet at Red Lane Mill in Sunny Bank Mills at 5.45pm
Collect your Lantern or Prop
Parade sets off at 6pm from the centre of the Mill (near Record Plant behind Mill Kitchen)
We’ll do a lap of Town Street before meeting up with the Schools Parade up by the Library at approx 6.20pm
Each Lantern & coordinating Letter will then slot into the schools parade to walk down amongst the children
We’ll do one last lap to the cenotaph and finish where we started
Volunteers can then drop their lantern / prop back into Red Lane Mill before joining the rest of the evenings celebrations!

All cyclists who sign up will be expected to provide their own well maintained bike
For a wholesome ‘Postie’ appearance cyclists are required to wear whimsy looking woollen hats and scarves!
We’d also love you to arrive with your bike wrapped in battery powered fairy lights
A working bicycle bell would also be amazing so you can wave and ring-a-ding as you cycle along!
All cyclists to meet at the Library from 6pm
Cyclists will be positioned at the back of the parade behind Santa’s Sleigh
Cyclists will do one lap with the full parade down to the cenptaph
You won’t be expected to cycle up hill during the parade - that’s just mean!
Check out the timings above and if you can commit then simply pick your chosen lantern or prop to carry, pop it in your shopping cart and head to the checkout to secure your spot in the parade!
All volunteers will be emailed a couple of days before with a reminder / confirmation of timings - so keep an eye on your inbox for the latest info!
