Join us at our Willow Workshops and come help us to create Farsley’s first ever large-scale Lantern Festival by volunteering at our weekly headdress sessions in October.
In these workshops you’ll be taught how to create headdress sculptures using eco-friendly willow.
The headdress structures will then go on to be used in our Family Headdress Decorating Workshops later in the month.
The headdresses will have a wonderfully wholesome ‘Urban Wildlife’ theme and once complete they will be worn by children and community volunteers at two spectacular Lantern Parades; one at Farsley’s Lights’ Switch On in November and the other at Farsley Community Project’s Charity Food Drive in December!
Led by artist Danny Tootell, we hope that by working together as a community, we can complete as many headdress structures as possible across 3 sessions.
There will also be the opportunity to add finishing touches to the headdresses that were decorated with families at the July sessions; help us to add eyes, feathers, ribbons and whiskers - that kind of thing!
We’ll provide tea, coffee & treats - come join us for a chance to get crafty whilst socialising with other like-minded members of the community!
We’d love for you to donate your time to help us make this year’s parades as magical as possible!
The workshops are free to join and suitable for anyone aged 16+
(we advise that under 18s be accompanied by a guardian)
They will take place at Scrap in Sunny Bank Mills, Farsley. Scrap is accessible by lift and there’s disabled parking at Sunny Bank Mills.
We have places for up to 15 volunteers per session.
