❤️ Fundraising for this year’s Lantern Parade has begun!
Grumpy’s loves hosting this amazingly wholesome community project, it’s such a lovely experience for all who take part!

The parade itself has over 300 participants and thousands of spectators.
What’s more; behind the scenes local volunteers, West SILC college students and Farsley’s Primary School children all come together.
For weeks they pour hours of work, time and care into creating this wonderful celebration of our community!Last year local residents raised £700 to contribute towards the project’s materials, which was gratefully received!
To reduce costs Grumpy’s also provided workshop & storage space and owners Alex & Cass gave their time in kind to run the project. Grumpy’s also paid for a local artist to facilitate the project’s Volunteer Workshops; their work taught our community the skills they need to create these wonderful lanterns! Total costs were around £2500.
2026’s Lantern Parade theme will be The Jolly Christmas Postman, this much-loved classic children’s book brings together this joy of letter writing with British charm, fairy-tale fun & Christmas magic…

We’ll be holding Volunteer Workshops later in the year!
In these workshops we’ll be creating new large scale puppets - starting from July 2026.Followed by prop workshops in September when we’ll make the smaller handheld props for the parade.

You can also make a general donation that will go towards the material and staffing costs of the project. Simply choose ‘custom amount’ on our donations form below, all amounts are welcome no matter how small, anything you can give is gratefully received!

Join us with your team for a Corporate Volunteer Day of crafting in the community!
